Hockey – Jamaica’s Best Efforts

In recent regional tournaments, Jamaica’s best effort came in 2002 when the women team won the silver medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games held in Puerto Rico to qualify for the 2003 Pan American Games. Trinidad and Tobago won the gold medal and also represented the Caribbean in the Pan American Games in Dominican Republic. The men’s team ended sixth at the Central American and Caribbean Games and did not qualify.

At the 2006 edition of the Central American and Caribbean Games held in the Dominican Republic, the women’s team was fifth to gold medal winner Cuba. The women’s team held on to that position at the 2010 tournament in Puerto Rico, which was won by Trinidad and Tobago.  The men’s team was sixth to gold medal winner Mexico.

The women’s was third in the 1998 Games in Venezuela. Cuba also won the gold medal that year. At the Senior Pan American Games, Jamaica’s women team competed at four tournaments since 1987 with a best place of fifth in 1991. And the men’s team qualified for four tournaments since 1967 with a best effort of fourth in 1975.
